We in FOR-Palestine, a Palestine solidarity group based in Germany, have taken much strength from the recent decision of the Candidatura de Unidad Popular to disinvite Jutta Ditfurth from their conference “Sovereignty and Self-Determination” in Barcelona on the 20th of May.
Ditfurth is herself an avid campaigner against Palestinian sovereignty and self-determination as well as a known agitator against the BDS movement and solidarity groups in Germany. We as one of these solidarity groups, as well as the local BDS group in Berlin, have often been the target of her attacks – most notably in 2016 as she led a campaign to exclude us from the revolutionary May Day demonstration with trumped-up claims of anti-semitism and sexism. Thanks to the solidarity of the other leftist groups in the demonstration coalition, the campaign hopelessly failed. Disinviting the Zionist propagandist Ditfurth was the right choice for a party with internationalist ideals. It has been noted that the CUP did not step back from its solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for liberation, while fighting for self-determination in Catalonia.
Unity of all those suffering from oppression is our long-term revolutionary strategy. United we stand, divided we fall!
